Building a sustainable university means engaging in a culture shift--where all levels of the University including senior administration, faculty, staff, as well as students, work collaboratively together to find innovative solutions to one of the greatest challenges of our times.

In 2019, Lakehead University launched its inaugural Sustainability Plan. The Plan is comprehensive, covering the sustainability of the institution’s academics, operations, engagement, and planning and administration. While implementation of the plan will be a collective effort across the University, the Office of Sustainability will oversee its fulfilment.

The plan was developed by the Office of Sustainability, in collaboration with numerous faculty, staff, students, and community members who sit on the University’s Sustainability Stewardship Council and its Working Groups.

See the 2019-2025 Sustainability Plan, as well as how we are advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, for more information on how Lakehead University is committed to sustainability.
